Our tour starts in Budapest – two cities in one – Buda and Pest- both will show us many things we might expect and quite a few that will surprise. Highlights will no doubt include the Budapest Parliament with the Hungary’s crown jewels, the famed Budapest Opera House and the most beautiful (and largest) synagogue in Europe. There are few cities in the world that can rival the beauty and culture of Vienna. The former capital of the Hapsburg Empire that was home to some of history’s great minds, from Mozart to Freud, Maria Theresa to Klimt. We’ll visit the beautiful summer palace at Schönbrunn, watch a training session at the famous Spanish Riding School and walk in footsteps of royalty in the Hofburg Palace.
From Vienna, we travel to Cesky Krumlov in the Czech Republic, a thirteenth century town famous for its castle, and then to Ceske Budejovice, a beautiful town in the Bohemian countryside. We end in Prague, which has become a byword for the new Eastern Europe, with its Internet cafes and visiting film stars, but it really is a must-see city with its Old Town, Little Quarter and Hradcany. A highlight will be two private, VIP tours – backstage at the Estates Theater, and into the library of the Strahov Monastery.
